Basement Door

The basement steps had wood railings on either side, but then I took out the old deck, which left a railing only on the east side. The painters ruined the remaining railing with a single hard bump. So I built a little roof frame to hold up the railings (so folks don't fall in) and put a tarp over the whole thing.

I looked at Bilco metal doors, but they don't fit the weird steps. I made a plan that involved a flat roof shed at the house and a pitched door. I thought perhaps I could make the shed geometry work so that a standard Bilco door would fit. A Bilco door, by the way, would be nearly $1000 just for the door (no installation).

Two strikes and you're out, Lennox

Back in 2017, I bought a new gas furnace . Lennox was a good brand, once. Then the blower ECM went out and cost me $700 or so to fix in July...
