Kitchen Deja Vu

Been here before, but this is perhaps the final design. It's clean and sleek, more International Style than Mid-Mod. Actually, it's reminiscent of Gerrit Rietveld's Schroder House (1924). Not sure Rietveld ever used wood grain.

Wood unit is pantry and supplies with GRIMSLOV doors. Six deep drawers at base. The dark cabinets are LAXARBY, what Ikea calls "black-brown" (like my bed and nightstand). It has a subtle trim molding around the glass or center panel, suggesting furniture more than tech.

Glass doors on pass-through cabinets. Counters are Caesarstone "Fresh Concrete."  Kitchen cabinets are RINGHULT, high-gloss gray below with high-gloss white uppers. The red element a Zephyr Horizon vent hood. We'll hang pots and utensils on the wall around the range.

The countertop "waterfalls" to the floor and the upper cabinet holds back 3". Lighter grey is stainless steel dishwasher. Note that the television is somewhat visible to the chef.

It's a compact kitchen with distinct zones--serious cooking, refrigerator and pantry, and the self-service counter at the right.

The hood is probably too $$$, but perhaps we can find a designer hood for less.

Note additional skinny window on range wall--that wall is symmetrical, and the windows are operable casements. Fixed picture window at the sink. Burn anything you want; we'll air it out in no time.

Remaining questions:

• Backsplash. Could be a band of Caesarstone, or tile, which would be much cheaper. (The "waterfall" effect is about $438 worth of material.)
• Flooring. I'm assuming that the engineered hardwood is continuous in the Trees Room, the dining area, entry, and kitchen. Tile?
• Coffee. I like the free-standing microwave; built-ins are the wrong shape and are hard to swap when they break. But it's not just what I like--I worry that the coffee service might turn off some buyers.

Inspiration for pantry. BJORKET doors shown, not the darker and more expensive GRIMSLOV.

Gloss white RINGHULT doors with quartz countertop. Our base cabinets would be high gloss gray for more contrast with the counter. We'd use this white on the upper cabinets.

Zephyr Horizon, part of the Arc collection, designed by Robert Brunner. I think they're about $3,000 vs. $800 for an excellent ordinary hood.
